The 1st International Film Weekend in Śrem

The 1st International Film Weekend was held at the S£ONKO cinema theater in Srem on October 1-2. The event was organized by the Śrem Cultural Center and the Śrem City Hall.

Well-known film personalities were invited to the film event, i.e. Wojciech Kaluzynski - review curator and film critic, Krzysztof Zanussi - film director and Robert Luczak - illustrative music composer, conductor, native of Śrem.

At the special invitation of the mayor of Śrem, Adam Lewandowski, the 1st International Film Weekend was also attended by the mayors of the Partner Cities of the municipality of Śrem: the mayor of Bergen, Rainer Prokop, and the deputy mayor of Roznov pod Radhost, Vaclav Mikusek.

The main purpose of the event was to combine film productions from the countries of the partner cities of the municipality of Srem into one theme, which dealt with the relationship between parents and children.

Viewers during the first day of the Film Weekend attended a meeting with Wojtek Kaluzinski, as well as Krzysztof Zanussi, then watched two films: "Suicide Room" prod. by Polish and "Honey" prod. by German-Turkish. That day, the Metropol Hotel also hosted an official meeting of mayors from the partner cities of the Śrem municipality, during which the Foreign Cooperation Program for 2012 was signed.

On the second day of the First International Film Weekend, a meeting was held at the S£ONKO Cinematheater with Robert Luczak, during which he and Ewa Kazmierczak - director of the Śrem Cultural Center - thanked Danuta Szczepaniak - a teacher at the then Music School in Śrem for her first years of education.

Next on the agenda were two film productions, prepared by the organizers of the Film Weekend. The first of these was a family drama of Czech production entitled "The Family. "Mamas & Papas", which told of the joys and hardships of parenthood, seen through the prism of four intertwined stories, while the second was a German film entitled "The Silence". "Silence" - a mixture of detective story and psychological drama, dealing with the subject of pedophilia.
